When eBooks were newly invented, a new trend was begun.
Libraries rapidly adopted the technology as it was easy to present information
in digital format. It proved to be the most revolutionary technology in the
market of publishing, reading and writing. Of course it affected the printing
book industry. In 2012, 72 percent of readers read printed books but there was
a decline of 5 percent in 2013. And as of a new survey, slightly
fewer Americans are reading print books.
Wide adoption of eBooks pushed mobile app developers to
optimize educational materials to mobile devices. Take the example tablets
which can nowadays handle most of the tasks a PC can do. Modern tablets and
smartphones come with a lot of sophisticated features, and with a right sort of
applications they can be turned into an ultimate learning tool.
Colleges, schools and various training institutions around
the world are bringing educational, study materials and instructions on mobile
platforms through dedicated apps and students are able to access these stuffs without
the limits of time and place.
Mobile apps have given writers a new way to sell their writings. Amazon’s Kindle Fire, for
example, has emerged a gigantic platform where writers, with right set of
skills, are doing wonders. Yes they are selling their e-books which are being
read by millions of readers around the world.
Not only regular educational books are being converted in
digital format to push the concept of e-learning but also, books for
entertainment are also getting mobility. Comic book companies like DC and
Marvel have already brought their apps on in mobile.
Previously, indie writers were not able to publish their
books under the banners of big publication houses but now they are free to publish
books in electronic formats on their own. Today, we have hundreds of thousands
of eBook writers around the world and indeed these writers are making good
money too.
Conclusion
Mobile apps are a fantastic tool, particularly when it comes
to providing education and training. By adopting mobile apps education and
training institutions can present students with a convenient environment for
learning.
